Sedrick Tyrone Ford

I was born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in a close-knit family where love, discipline, and hard work were part of our everyday life. Both of my parents worked in the automotive industry, and my older sister, Shevette, was seven and a half years ahead of me. Even though my parents were strict, they always made sure love came first. We never lacked anything, and our home was filled with warmth and stability.

My family loved taking trips together, especially our yearly fishing vacations in Canada. Those were some of my favorite memories—peaceful moments spent laughing, fishing, and simply being together. My grandfather, who worked for Ford, joined us every year. He lived in the downstairs level of our home and spent most weekends with my grandmother in Alliance, Ohio.

Growing up, I was tall for my age, which led me to run track for several years before eventually playing football. It was during my football years that I started facing personal challenges—experiences that would later deepen my understanding of identity, emotional struggle, and the importance of self-confidence.

Today, the lessons from my childhood, my family values, and the obstacles I faced all live within my stories. Through Confidence Builder Series, my mission is to help children believe in their worth, overcome their challenges, and grow with strength, courage, and confidence.
